WELCOME BACK!!! We missing you so much! I’ve enjoyed catching up on your posts. I’m really over the whole Starbucks thing, and I am a little annoyed by the company as a whole. At one point they were onto a good thing, but they have forgotten their original purpose. Plus, why would we tip baristas to simply push a button when we could tip real baristas who can make art out of foam in my morning cappuccino? That requires actual work and practice – trust me! Starbucks baristas have begun to expect tips regardless of the service provided. If there isn’t a hearty dollar (or more) many baristas make fun of the customers or turn their nose up at them. Kind of entitled and snobby if you ask me. Unless you have a favorite barista and he/she makes your drink extra special, then I would also question tipping just because there is a box in front of the cash register. Go to a coffee shop with a REAL coffee machine – grind, tamp, and pull the shot (as opposed to an automatic found at all Starbucks). Bottoms up!

Coffee is the devil, I’d rather tip my Skyline servers.

As a minority shareholder in Starbucks, I encourage you not to tip, but instead, to use the money you might otherwise earmark for barista-tipping to purchase a more expensive beverage.

Sadly, a recent tragedy in St. Louis involved tipping at Starbucks: http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/stories.nsf/stlouiscitycounty/story/D5BE96ADF6CF0A66862574040016516F?OpenDocument
